I watch a video that is interesting.

The guy asked which focal lenght you like and instead of buying for example a 35mm, 50mm and 85mm he suggest to buy one lens and then buy a lens that is 2 times tele or 2 times wide.

For example, if you buy a 50mm, then buy a 24mm and a 100mm. If you buy a 35mm, you could buy a 70mm, and a 18mm.
It makes more sense.

I think its an interesting approach.

what you guys think ?

It's not really a matter of math. It depends on what you shoot, and how you shoot it. For me, on full frame, it would be 50, then 90, then 35, then 24, then 135, then 180. The 24 is too wide for many shots, that's why I would get the 35 first.

My thoughts.... Purchase 2 or 3 fast zooms which cover a broad shooting range. For example, 11-16mm f2.8 / 16-50mm f2.8 / 70-200mm f2.8, which will give you a good working set of zooms. Then purchase the prime lenses in the focal lengths you use the most when shooting with your zooms. That way you are selecting prime lenses which will work best for your shooting situations, rather than selecting lenses on the advice of someone who knows nothing about how and what you are shooting.

All the best!
