OTHER: Storyboard Photo in Prague

Hey everyone,

I'm studying at FAMU in Prague over the summer, and they had me work on a still photo project over the past week to work on composition, lighting, storytelling, etc. Just about everything except acting - and even a little bit of that for the actors. We screened our projects today, and the entire faculty was there to give criticism in their respective fields - script, cinematography, directing, etc.

I was completely surprised by the criticism I received, and I'm really unable to pinpoint what went wrong. They said my composition, lighting, and shots were all well done. However, only one professor out of about 10 understood what was happening in my story, and even she couldn't understand any subtext or premise (those of you that read Egri) my story was built upon.

I was told by one professor before shooting that the original idea for my project was too complicated to tell in the 25 photo limit that we had, so I started from the beginning the day before and went with this script instead. Thus, I was expecting my story to be pretty clear, at least with what happened in it. I understand that it is much more difficult to convey subtext.

Here's the film:

Tell me what you think of it, and what you thought happened in the story, and then I'll talk about some interpretations I got, and reasons why it didn't have as positive of a reception as I would've liked.

Thanks!!!
