I think you are talking about INTERVAL recording which lets the camera record continuous frames one at a time at a pre-selected time period. You can set intervals from 2 frames up to 10 minutes and the camera will record on each occurrence of that time interval.

If you set the interval to 10 minutes, the camera will record 1 frame every 10 minutes.

You can only do this in VIDEO CAM mode. Set Operation Type to VIDEO CAM. Set record format to either 1080i/60i, 1080i/30p, 720p/60p, 720p/30p, 480i/60i, or 480i/30p. In the REC FUNCTION menu select INTERVAL and choose your interval time (defaults to 2 frames).
