if one was to do some stop motion filming on the dvx100A which mode would be better to film in? I am unsure and want to get it right before I start.
thanks,
ryan
Any other tips would be helpfull.

I'd vote for 30P to eliminate any potential for interlace artifacts.

However, 60i will make the camera twice as light-sensitive, so if you're shooting in dark situations 60i will give you more brightness. You can compensate by using 1/30th shutter speed on the 30P footage though.

thanks a lot. I appreciate the reply.
the other question I had is I just read the entire thread on headcleaning, every post. Someone mentioned once that 80 min panasonic MQ tapes were not good for the camera and that freaked me out as I can't see any info on it anywhere. for the first twenty five hours i used whatever tapes I could find, sony, fuji, whatever...then I read that was a bad idea so I switched to MQ for the last fifteen hours and just recently got the infamous red x which is now gone. I am gong to get it professionally cleaned and now I have a bunch of unopened 80 min tapes that I can't understand what would be wrong with them?
thanks for your time,
ryan

80-minute tapes use a thinner tape stock (by necessity; they have to fit 33% more tape in the same physical space as the 60-minute tapes do). That can make it more prone to crinkling/wrinkling etc. The Panasonic manual recommends not to use 80-minute tapes.
