Stolen Odyssey

My Odyssey 7Q was stolen from set in NYC. Does anyone have any advice on how to track it should the thief try to sell it online or elsewhere?
 
Do you have record of the serial number? Check craigslist and eBay often, and ask sellers to provide a picture of it.
 
Please contact our support line. We can't do a lot, but if anyone ever tries to update and/or register it, we can alert you and you in turn can be in contact with the authorities. We will flag the serial number.

Please copy me on any correspondence.
 
Hi Mitch,

I contacted the CD team, and they set me up really quickly transferring the codec to my new unit. I am very happy with everyone's response and understanding; I'm blown away by your customer service. They have the serial of the stolen unit, and it is satisfying to think that the thief might be caught at some point in the future.
 
Would be nice if they could code stolen serials into the firmware so the unit stops functioning.

The other sad part is the poor sucker who tries to upgrade this unit bought it thinking it was legitimate. They loose the money and device when the police come knocking.

The same thing would happen to you if you purchased a car that turned out to be stolen. It would go back to the rightful owner and you would be out the money you paid.

But unlike with a stolen car: Maybe you could implement a simple "legit serial check" on your homepage, so people can input the serial number of a piece of used CD gear they want to purchase and see, if it has been reported stolen...?
