I'd email any and all production/rental houses and DP's. Make the camera serial number big and bold. Sooner or later, something like an HVX will end up on someone's shoot. Either lent out or rented as a B camera or something. The owner (new one) might not even know it's hot and unwittingly brings it to set or puts it on a production's insurance and has to submit SN #'s.
I'll keep an eye out. Bet it ends up in NYC, Philly or DC. They'd be fools to unload it in Boston.
Again just thanks to you all for the support and advise ! I will be sending out the SN# info to as many places as i can... It would be nice to catch the bastards indeed.
It should be mandatory for sellers to post serial numbers on all equipment being sold. Also, it would be handy if victims would post serial numbers at a central location (perhaps the manufacturers could have a page that potential buyers of used equipment could look up before they buy). It is illegal to possess stolen property!
Make it hard for crooks to sell stolen equipment and you reduce their market place making stealing stuff "unprofitable".
