Hi all -

Feel free to delete this thread if it's too off-topic for here, but on Friday night (June 8th, 2012) my camera was stolen in Somerville, MA along with my lenses and backpack. If you see anything fitting this description, please let me know, I'm happy to provide a reward for anything leading to it (but I'm not too hopeful).

Amazon.com-branded camera backpack

Black Panasonic GH2 (serial #WE1CA001058)
Helios 44m-4 lens
Voigtlander 25mm .95 lens
Marumi ND-8 77mm filter
Konica Hexanon 135mm
Konica Hexanon 50mm
Konica Hexanon 28mm

and a variety of step-up filters, filters, and soft-cases for the lenses (and some accessories).

If anyone sees a kit resembling this in the area (or elsewhere) - please, please let me know, as I can't afford to replace just about any of it.

I live in Sagamore/Bourne. But I teach at a school of performing arts in Middleboro. I will keep my eyes and ears open. I can put up a posting on the bulletin board at the school, and in my store for you if you want me to. I will also tell my student to do the same. Nothing worse than a THIEF. It takes a real piece of garbage to steal. One of my biggest pet pieves.

Sorry to hear this happened to you, You should try to contact some of the pawn shops, craigs list, and camera stores like Hunts and let them no the situation, so if any of it comes in they know it's stolen merchandise.

just send me a PM with the info, And I will get it posted asap.

Also, might not be a bad idea to make a posting on craigslist as "looking to buy a used gh2", and do the same for the lenses, just not in the same post, on the same day. so it's not obvious. You never know. It's worth a try.

And when you get it back or (more likely) eventually replace it consider "personal articles" insurance (if not professional, if professional another type will be appropriate). I contacted the same State Farm agent who writes my auto, homeowners, and an "umbrella" liability for me. He set me up with a policy that covers listed items for loss whether from theft, physical accident, etc., Pretty much anything except normal usage wear and tear that results in loss of items.

Cost was about $1.70 per $100 valuation. I had to provide B&H (or wherever purchased from) invoices and a list showing description and serial numbers. In your situation I would have been re-imbursed for invoice cost of all major items, body and lenses essentially.

You have my empathy. I can try to imagine how I would feel in your situation.

The ass that stole your equipment probably wants to sell it quickly. In most states pawn shops must check and register serial numbers and report to police departments. Make sure you file a complete police report. However, you are in an area with several states close together so may have to register the theft with several jurisdictions. You can also do a nationwide search for your items on craigslist by searching the identifying name and also adding the word craigslist in your search title. Also search the items individually in case they are sold that way. They may wait weeks for items to cool before selling. As a last resort, consider posting a reward sign where the theft occurred. The sleaxebags who pull this crap may give you info.

Hope this helps. Now if only Verizon would help get my phone back as they know who is using it.
