Have you people noticed that not only have the price of the HMC40 gone up at B&H but it's sold out at Amazon. One reason could be the recent burst of excitement for this camcorder. When it was first released, their wasn't that much praise for it but months later, things started changing. Another reason could be that Panasonic is lowering it's supply for a release of it's successor. All I can say is that if it is getting replaced than I would hope it will get 1080 60p just like the TM700.

Hello,

The price of the AG-HMC40 was adjusted (it went up) at the beginning of April. This was unrelated to availability of the HMC40 or the release of the new AG-HMC80 (which is a replacement for the AG-HMC70). Quite a few other cameras have received a price adjustment one way or the other, like the AG-HVX200A had a price drop.

We have a few of the AG-HMC40 cameras that are at the old price, so if you're considering one, it's a great chance to get it while they're still at the lower price. They aren't old cameras, we actually took delivery from Panny this month.

Also, so you know, Amazon.com is not an authorized Panasonic dealer.
