Stock 16X vs Th13X3.5BRMU

Here's a blownup capture of Tim Dashwood's rez test with the stock HD100 and 13X lens. (Top left corner)

This is with detail OFF.

The 13X lens smokes the stock lens. Man, I wish I could see some footage from this lens.

The 13X looks a lot clearer here. In use, the stock lens looks great, but I could only imagine how
good the 13X lens must look!

Thanks Steve.

I thought only one or two guys were interested in these tests, but they seem to have circulated around pretty quickly.
I guess I better sit down and finish my full review this weekend.

I compared to the 16x (with and without 0.82x WA) and tested:
Field of View
Chromatic Aberation
Vignetting
Sharpness/Resolving Power
Breathing
Colour Cast
Physical weight & dimensions

Overall the 13x was a big winner, but it did not completely eliminate CA. In fact, it may be impossible to eliminate CA on 1/3" native rez HD with a prism. Too bad there isn't a XL to 1/3" adapter so I could test that theory with Canon's Flourite lens.

Lots of complaints about fringing on Canon's lens too though, over on DVInfo -- which some are speculating may actually be the prism.
