Stingers

Question on stingers:

My wallet hurts at the idea of purchasing multiple stingers for my small-scale student productions if it can be avoided. Could I add a 15amp multi-outlet adapter onto the end of a regular 12/3 15amp stinger and safely run several lights through it? Adapter: (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000HJDB9Q...lid=3GR4C4WJORYZF&coliid=I3ORL9OFKCNHGA&psc=1)
The amperage would stay under 15amps (2 650w at ~6.7? amps each + maybe a 150w or 300w). The only time I've seen something like this when working with lights is through a distro box. I would be using house power, so is this still possible (safety wise)?

One other thing. I was looking at 2 different stingers, a SO for ~$50 and a SJO for ~$40. As the only difference is in the 300v to 600v difference, would I ever need the 600v SO cable? I know you mentioned no in this thread, but as I would be running power to multiple lights through the cable, I thought that it might be different.

Cables: http://www.filmandvideolighting.com/exco1225sjow.html and http://www.filmandvideolighting.com/lex-15a-extension-cord-cable-12-3-so-edison-25-ft.html

And if I am correct, this one is cheaper due to cheap wire housing? http://www.filmandvideolighting.com/stinger-black-extension-cord-12-gauge-25ft.html

I've never seen one of those. You could get it and I'm sure it will work, OR you could get a bunch of cube taps for $3-4 a piece.
I would stick with the SJ wire, especially for longer lengths. The SO stuff has a much thicker jacket and takes up 2x as much space when coiled. The voltage rating doesn't matter.

I hadn't thought of using a cube tap! Silly me! 3 outlets would be all I need (instead of the strange 5 outlet adapter). SJO it is! Thanks!

If you want to make your own 12/3 SJ was only $1.18 per ft at Lowes, $0.88 per ft if you by a 250' spool
