stinger with quad box

What do you think about this stinger with a quad-box? This looks like it was designed for use on stage, but it's SJOOW rated so it should be fine in just about any service. Nice integrated quad box on the end that lays flat and is less of a trip hazard perhaps.

What I want it for is to run some low powered lights (650s and below) off of 15A house level circuits for things from cooking shows (in actual houses) to corporate boardroom talking heads shots, to hotel room interviews at trade shows, all that sort of thing. IOW, where the lights might not be in close proximity to the wall outlets.

Price seems almost reasonable. Anyone know of anything else out there that competes with this? I was going to make my own and found this one while looking for a weather resistant quad box to use on the end of my homemade stinger. I doubt I can make a better stinger, mainly because I can't find a quad box that's as good as this one looks to be.

I agree. It's easier to organize and deploy them as separates. I tried a stinger with integrated cube tap. I didn't like it. I cut the cube tap off and put on a plug.

Seems pretty pricey. You could easily go to an electrical supply house and get 25' of SJ and a couple of connectors for less than they are asking. A 25' 12/3 extension cord at a big box store is less than $30. The parts for assembling your own breakout box will run less than $20

That item you linked looks to be really nice. It says it is a rubberized box, which I assume means it is a metal box coated in rubber. That would be a nice feature. It has the robustness of metal with the anti-scratch of rubber. Good for working in houses.

Here is a simple cube tap - http://www.thetapeworks.com/tape/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=313

These are good for houses since they won't scratch and are small and in-obtrusive. 15 amp rating.

OK Bruce, I know this really doesn't help, but it depends.

My whole reasoning in going separates, is I can then use the appropriate length stinger for each run. Some runs will not need a breakout as the draw from a single light would be max on a single circuit. I have a couple twin & quad boxes, but the reality is a good quality 15a power strip works in most cases where you need to breakout from a single run.

I generally keep on hand stingers of 10', 15', 25', 50', 100', and will use the closest size for the needed run.
