The 2nd and 3rd photos illustrate the rough edges I'm getting on my comp. I applied a simple choker to them, but it still has a rough edge that I'm having trouble getting rid of. Other than that I am quite pleased with my first time shooting on my new camera.
Looks good, I dig the style a lot! What are you using to do your keying?
If you're using after effects be sure to install the plugins that come with it. Keylight is amazing, nothing in AE compares. Check out videocopilot.net for a sweet tutorial.
Your stuff looks great, are those going to be the final background?
I love keylight! it's is the best I've been able to find. Did you shoot in 720 or 1080? as far as the stepping edges I find that you can easily fix that by either blurring the alpha channel slightly by using a channel blur, or do the pre-screen blur that's part of keylight. OR BOTH!
Whenever I shoot greenscreen I shoot 1080, I find the edges look much better with the higher resolution, then later I down-convert it to 720 after it's been keyed and the backgrounds have been put in. I shoot everything else in 720 usually.
But overall I think the HVX is the best camera to do greenscreen with because of its 4:2:2 colorspace which makes it infinitely easier. Just for fun you can do a quick comparison by shooting standard definition dv25 (4:1:1) and dv50 (4:2:2) You can see an incredible difference in the edges with the higher color sampling of dv50.
I shot it in 720p/24pn, but I'm doing another green screen project next week so I'll try 1080 and see how that looks. I added the pre screen blur inside keylight and it did help some, as well as the simple choker but I still have a little bit of "flickering". I'll look into the alpha channel blur this weekend because I'm going to fix the end sequence a bit to make it look better, I simply had to turn it in due to the deadline for school. But thanks!
