Stills from Feature Film "Turning Points", F3 sLOG, Cooke 18-100 / Panchros.

99% of the feature I shot was inside a small house so I only used my RED 18-85mm. The best investment for this movie was the lowlight capabilities of the F3 and the convenience of the zoom as variable primes.

The skin tones look great. The third frame grab down from the left really showes off the highlight handeling. How many stops different was the left side of his face compared to the right?

Todd Bridges? In theaters? Timur, you are indeed a "glass half full" kind of guy. :D
Stephen,

You may be surprised to hear that Todd Bridges's name is attracting serious marketing buzz on the film.

I directed the film and have to say how scandalously awesome the F3 is - in Timur's good hands, that is.

I doubt it'll come out in Austin but look out for it in Dallas and Texas if you can.

Bill, its the best 1080p camera made.

Anything it produces less than exceptional is operator error. I really believe its more camera than i am aDP. i never have a limitation because of it.

I wish you lived in LA. I'd rent it for a shoot this weekend and buy you dinner to show me the ropes on this thing.

Stills look great Timur. I've read your suggestion elsewhere to expose the highlights on skin at 45-50 w/slog. As you seem to have a good amount of experience working with dark skin actors/subjects, would you recommend 45-50 then also? I'm going to Haiti next week and will be renting s-log for my F3 (w/KiProMini) and wont have time to test exposures.

Thanks for any advice you may have and for showing many of us here what slog can really do.

white people i keep at 45.

darker skinned people i allow the highlights to go much higher than i would with a white skin tone. The base ire may be 40 IRE on darker skin tones, but the highlights can go up to nearly 80.

Niyi!

Glad you stopped by!

We had a daunting task shooting this film in a "foreign" city, New Ark Delaware....

Thanks Timur, really appreciate the insight.

we havent finished shooting yet...

So when its finally wrapped i will make a thread about it. :)

Todd Bridges? Man that takes me way back. With all he's been though I'm glad to see him still kicking it.

Those were some awesome looking shots Timur.

So... Heading out to Nigeria in a week to wrap this puppy up! cant wait, more grabs and footage coming soon!

Lovely images Timur. Favourite is the short side key with the window in the BG (4th image in first set)

Sorry to revive an old post--Timur, have you ever used the 18-100 in any kind of handheld config? Shooting a commercial coming up and I love the look and the focal range, but I don't know how well it'll do handheld on an Epic. Would probably have to swallow my pride and get an EasyRig... any tips?
