Still learning the 5D and audio question?

Hi,

I'm still learning my way around the 5d and am having an audio issue that I'm not able to understand. When I record video straight from the internal mic and download into my editor the video's audio is synced. When I attach the Rode Mic, record and download into my editor, the audio is about three frames off. I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm using FCP 6. thanks

Have you been abel to replicate the problem with other mics? This seems strange im intrested in buying a 5D but i havent heard much about things like this, did u buy a referb?

nope the cam and the mic are brand new not refurbished and Ive tested it out still same problem. I'm running the latest firmare. could it be an fcp problem?

It's probably the A/D audio converter in the camera that is causing the latency. If it's just an offest, you can nudge the audio back 3 frames. This is common with lower cost audio A/D converters, which is what is most likely in the camera. A lot of people shoot double system, meaning they record a reference track on the camera, and then use a professional audio recorder separately (with the proper mics and audio equipment), and then sync up the audio in FCP or AVID.
