Still import problem

I imported a bunch of stills for a project (mostly jpegs, a few BMP's) from a CD. At first everything was going fine. I was going through the timeline, cropping and rotating. Suddenly a few of the pics near the end of the timeline had the orange "unlimited" bar and wouldn't show up in the canvas. I tried to render but got a general error. Then the whole back end of the sequence did the same thing. I tried re-booting, re-importing and doing the pics as both a folder and as files. All of these pics showed up in the canvas the first time I put them on the timeline. Now, even if I start from scratch I get the same section and pics that behave the same. I took the pics from the CD again and started from scratch. No joy.

Any thoughts?

grid size and dpi of the clips?

are the jpegs doing this, or bmps?

any CYMK files, or are you certain they are all RGB?

Try increasing the amount of memory reserved for stills: System Settings > Memory & Cache > Still Cache.

Try to trashing your preferences. Just watch out since that'll reset your whole application!
