Steve Jobs: “Final Cut Pro is Alive and Well”

I bet Apple's shareholders would sell their stock en masse if Apple decided to move manufacturing to the U.S. Sad to say but in most industries, few can afford to build in the U.S.

Moving the manufacturing to 'vendors' was brilliant. Has turned Apple into the GREAT success story of American Technology. Thanks to Tim Cook!

cheers to the longs

Sounds great. Key word in that is "SOUNDS". Hopefully soon I can say, "looks great", followed shortly thereafter by "works great". Until then... meh. Appreciate the update, though. Cheers

if one would ask what would you like to change in currents FCP? I think the answer will be a loong list of wishes..
what makes me think about this is that nowadays FCP is much inferior to other systems, and I remember last update was back in 2009..
what are they competting right now? their Hype.. seems to be moving down.. the app misses a lot technology that others are using, simply where is GPU acceleration that lots of other systems use?
investing in lightpeak tells that apple is coming back to professional market with better hardware.. what about the software? are they? since 2009?

Apple plans on releasing the new product in Spring 2011 according to our source, in a launch possibly coinciding with the National Association of Broadcasters conference.

I'm going to call BS. Maybe it is true, but I think that statement gives it away as wishful thinking & not reality. When was the last time Apple had a booth at NAB? Yeah it makes logical sense to announce a new FCS at NAB, but if Apple doesn't attend the convention every year they're probably not too NAB centric in their mindset.

For NAB. I'm guessing Panasonic is going to have a major new camera announcement (from their deals on the HPX170 & HPX370). Sony will have some major updates on things they've teased before. JVC might have something of excitement. Canon really should come out with a 5D killer, but probably won't for another 3 years (look how long it took them to respond to the HVX & EX1).

The XF300 and XF305. Same general ballpark price as the HPX170 and EX1. Same with the new XF100 and 105... same ballpark as the HMC150 and NX5U.

Geez, maybe I'm paying too much attention to DSLRs these days because I don't think I ever knew these cameras existed. But I'm content in my DSLR world for now!

And a nicer cup holder, mine keep sliding back into the front of the darn thing.

I have a friend who works at an AppleCare call center, she says she once got a call from an enduser who complained because the cupholder on his computer wasn't working anymore. It was in fact the DVD drawer.
