SterlingTek's POWWER Panasonic Lumix GH1 Battery 1850 mAH

[brosen]

I am planning to buy a 3rd party battery for my GH1:

http://www.amazon.com/SterlingTeks-...8?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1257524668&sr=8-8

But I do not know if it will work or not ?, because panasonic has updated the Firmware to disable the camera from using 3rd party batteries.

Any previous experience ?, thanks

no third party batteries will work with Gh1

[Park Edwards]

it depends on your firmware whether or not 3rd party batteries will work.

Amazon has the first party battery for only $18 more than that third party (compared to at least 30 more @ Panny) more:

It's for the G1 but its first party and still works with the GH1.

That says it's $48, not $18...

I was writing $18 more but I had thought it was $13 more and when I changed to 18 after checking price I must have delete the "more" my mistake, sorry for the "gotta buy that" heart racing I may have caused.

There's a lot of misleading advertising on the web for the Panny GH1 battery, or rather third-party ones that are supposedly a direct replacement for it. As we all know, none of them will work with the latest firmware, though a lot of the advertising simply ignores this. Problem is, here in the UK the official Panasonic battery is borderline extortion - £57 ($94) on Amazon . If anyone knows of better UK prices, or of any third-party batteries that are chipped to work with the GH1, then I'm all ears...
