Stephen/Guys - Any advice 4 new owner?

I should have a new JVC100 a week from now and hopefully it'll be in good working order....

That said, do you have any advice for me? My main quandry now is which editing/computer system I should be looking at.

I am more or less committed to buying a system from the ground up, but even though I've read probably every thread on the subject, I'm still not clear on which (moderately priced) NLE would be the best....

The SSE issue still scares the hell outta me, but I'm committed now! :)

Anything else I should be thinking about? Thanks everyone for all the help -

John

Congratulations John  ! I'm sure you'll be producing great content in HD before you know it.

What NLE are you currently using? Can you use it for HDV?

Stephen -

Thanks man! It was partially due to your support of the jVC that I bought it (I suppose I always secretly wanted to buy it because it also is the nicest looking of the 'baby-4')!

As for editing, I have an old media 100 system that's more or less just used for local comercials now - I would never dream of using it for a film, so, no system at right now.

I like macs, but all the sfx is being done on a PC - so I'm brand agnostic on this one. I just want something that will capture the footage natively, and then, if neccessary, be able to do a film-out.

Thanks Stephen for all your kind help so far...

Stop worrying...

Stop worrying John... Its a good idea to download the .pdf manual from the JVC site and go through it in detail so that when your camera arrives you will be familier with its layout.... and ready a lot quicker to go and have some fun with it:thumbsup:

Not sure what you would call a moderate price.... or what kind of work you do, but the Final Cut Pro studio bundle is a nice buy... if your into Mac that is.

If you will be needing to run off of batteries then you will need to get that upgraded.

Have fun....
