SteadyTracker Extreme

They aren't true stabilizer's, no gimble, just your wrist.

Get a Glidecam, better choice for the money for a handheld.

thanks.. the choice seems obvious do you think I can get away with using the 2000 for the DVX or should I spring for the 4000? I feel like the 4000 would be a better choice by the time include the weight added by a matte box and other extras.

Full Circle, some people used the 2000 with the DVX and claim it works fine. I, on the other hand, use the 4000 pro. I'm glad because with my intentions of getting the HVX200 HD camera, the extra weight of this camera won't matter with the 4000 pro. When you add filters, batteries, matte box, rods, depth of field adapters, camera lights or camera microphones your weight will increase by may be a pound or more. So the ability to hold more weight makes good sense. I would get the 4000 pro and eventually get their arm and vest that goes with it. Peace!

Just checking. Someone over at EVS tried to talk me into buying one today. He compared it to a steadicam rather favorably. I take it you disagree...

I've seen the fig rig, and think it's a joke. I'm sure you can get better stabilization out of the glidecam packages, but I do have a Steady Tracker Extreme, and for the price, it's a pretty handy tool.

True, it doesn't have a gimble, but I've gotten better shots on it than others I know that DO have a gimble ... it all comes down to practice & the user. For me, I like the SteadyTracker because it is a straight stick, so I can do all kinds of unique angles with it, even running the camera upside down & LOW to the ground (flip it in post) or several feet above people's heads for an instant Jib/Crane shot.

So I'll defend the SteadyTracker in saying it's a great bang for the buck, as long as you're patient & don't expect perfection your first time out with it ... not that you'd get perfection with any stabilizer first time out. Practice, Practice, Practice. It's an art in itself, just like lighting, sound, editing, etc.

Exactly.
Sigh...!!! All to true! Why couldn't I have been born rich and perfect?:(

Yeah, yeah, but it didn't say quoted by Envision ... so you unintentionally stole my thunder, you Stedi-Master fiend! :) Kidding, of course.
