i just got my bearing today, i secured it with two layers of double sided tape and this screw on thing i found at home depot. so far its almost flawless

yea so i basically made this out of boredom, which is the only way i get anything done really. but if you havent built yourself one yet, GO DO IT NOW. i built this one in an hour for about 7 dollars. its not done but it works. eventually i plan to have a nice handle that swivels on X Y and Z axises.

just get two plates that screw on either end of the bar and you can screw your camera to it, i just took the screw mount out of an extra mounting plate for my tripod.

Nice...I wish mine was that cheap...I spent about $75....but the results are worth it...I'll be glad to help out if you need any. Check out my signature...I have pics and links and comparison video of mine.

Is there some reason you both have the post so long?

It will actually make controlling the thing much more difficult than it needs to be.

Well its for balance purposes, for me. Plus I do at foot level shooting and beding down and running is more difficult so I just made the pole out of a retracting paint pole from Home Depot and set a weight on it for stabilty...I shorten (retract) the pole for high shots.

a long post is really no matter as long as you balance it properly. which i have not done. i only made the thing 20 minutes before i posted it. but as long as you have the handle in the middle, and the bottom is away from your knees, then you dont have a problem.

"a long post is really no matter", umm, not really.

"have the handle in the middle", no you don't want the handle in the middle.

"bottom is away from your knees", it shouldn't be anywhere near your knees.

But then, what do I know about these things anyway......:lipsrseal

How would one of those Monopods, slightly modified, work as a stedi-cam? looks very similar to the above stills... i guess money is an issue. A nice Monopod is like $75-$100, thats pretty pricey i guess... but it already has the shoe-mount and a nice padded bar, and extends quite a bit... i dunno... attach a 2.5lb weight to the bottom...

That is the best way to make a super simple Stabilizer. - It's about as good as you can get without going to a gimbled system. (It won't be great, but it does beat handheld)

Thats what i was looking at but I like to mechanical stuff so I did mine this way. I had fun actually, and the results are good enough to warrant using it until it becomes an annoyance.
