Steadicams/Glidecams with the AF-100

Hey all,

Im looking at adding a steadicam/glidecam system of some sort to my arsenal to use with my af-100. Just curious what you guys are using? I'm looking at getting something in the $600-1500 range, ideally with a vest. I found a Glidecam V-20 for a pretty good price. Anyone used this thing? I know it's older so wondering if it still works well or if I should be looking at some of the newer options.

Any input is appreciated. And some footage you've shot with your steadcam would be awesome as well if you have it online.

Cheers!

Get the blackbird stabilizer, great customer service, and seems really good to with easy markings and handy features like the ability to set it down with the camera stillon it. Heres my first thing i did when i took it out the box: a silly trailer we made after a few hours filming and drinking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLnoS7x06ZM it is very rough obviously ( as you can see theres roll around the corner etc) but still i found it incredibly impressive epsecially the bit where my friend walks out the car, hes walking at a rapid pace and im literally running and it still looks cool. Imagine after I practise and practise!

Had the merlin for a while, but just sold it for the blackbird. The blackbird seems to fly heavy cameras a lot easier!

I totally recommend getting a glidecam HD4000 doing the post modification to take a monitor and then buying the vest when you can. You'll have about 2100 invested but then you have a real steadicam and that carries a lot of weight with clients and it's also about 2K less than if you were to buy like a Flyer or a pilot.... Totally love the rig!

Thanks guys, so the blackbird seems to be getting a lot of love. Anyone have any footage they've shot with it and the af-100 other than tests? I'd love to see what this baby can do! Also, it says its rated up to 8lbs. Do you find with a lens and monitor it gets too heavy? or do you not use a monitor with it?

Thanks again
