Steadicam vs Artemis

I have flown all of the steadicam rigs right from the Merlin up to the Ultra2, they are all fantastic, the build quality with the Flyer is just a scaled down version of the Ultra2, its built just as well. I also didn't know until recently that Tiffen hold the patent for the Iso Elastic property of all Tiffen arms. No other manufacture of stabilizer can make iso elastic arms.

I cant remember exactly what iso elastic defines but Its something to do with the springiness and behavior of the arm.

The flyer has this isoelastic feature too. Ive had the flyer for afew months now and its great, in the hands of a well practiced operator it can do just as much as a full size rig, and ive flown the Red One and F900 on my Flyer, it can take more than it looks like it can....

Iso-Elasticity is the property that makes a Steadicam arm want to stay where you've boomed it to, rather than it trying to return to a position near the middle of its boom range. Older arms, and arms by some of the competitors will require a good deal of pulling up or pushing downwards to hold a boomed shot, whereas an iso-elastic arm will require much less force (dialable down to almost zero force on the big arms, the G-50 and G-70).

Yeah the G50 and 70 have a ride knob on both sections of the arm that adjusts the isoelastic tension. The Flyer arm is isoelastic, but its not adjustable.

My next rig has an isoelastic arm :-D

At NAB I tried the Movecam from China and the arm extremely stiff, would not allow me to boom up or down. I reccomend to take your hard earned money to another manufacturer. Thats why iso-elastic is so important.

PS: Hoarp I see you didnt attach your back straps in the picture. My clipper 2 vest came without those straps and my AC built them in 5 minutes. They make a world of difference, with your technical experince I am sure you can build them into you flyer vest very easily. Top part just sits under the velcro with no holes or drills. The bottom end just requires a hole on the lower part of the vest.

PSS: That looks like a 324, Am I right?

Yeah its a 324 with an Ultra2 vest (the clipper vest dsnt have a ripcord or back straps). I am in the process of retrofitting my Flyer vest with ratchet clips (they are very useful) and the back straps.

I had only just strapped that rig on, I didnt know what they were for, but I did start using them.

I will be getting my clipper with the Ultra2 vest as I am too tall/rounded for the clipper vest.
