Here tis. Also a shot of the 50-300mmf4.5 which may just be the ideal single daylight lens for guerilla shooting on the d90.

Nah! Lost brings most of it's primary crew from LA. Plenty of local grips etc :)

There are some guys here I know who have been 1st, 2nd AC's etc for years, yet operating for them is still the golden job for a select few, who in typical JJ style will then probably operate on everything he does for years! :) They go on however of course to then operate for other TV shows, indep features etc, so it's been worth it for them to stick it out.

Franken' though this truck looks :) Can you imagine how easy it will be to get my actors walking in a crowded sidewalk in dusk light, adjustable framing with the 50-300mm (it's 4.5 isn't good enough for low-light), maybe the 135mm - big diff on the D90 vs a 3ft hd200u with light eating dof adapter
- As I said, legal to ride in the back in Hawaii, and with a "still camera and tripod" you are just having fun :)
There is some low-cost production value shots :)

Yep. I have for other shots, and it make a big difference for getting focus spot on, so nice to have hd out hd in, hd mon, portable.

I used a noga arm off the side and a 7" totevision. Two problems though. 1) The hdmi connection drops intermittently. This was discovered by someone, and I had it during hdmi capture card testing as well.
2) Not a huge one, but the internal lcd shuts off when you connect the hdmi. In this case I was trying to do a 150degree pan from the tripod in the back. I was all setup to watch the lcd, then switch to the external one during the pan to keep framing, but it was off :(. Just rethought the shot. Made me get out of my comfy safe chair and do it nascar style on a moving truck. The 3" wasn't unreasonable to look at for framing during a pan, so its a shame it cannot stay on if required in lv mode, they are both on during playback for instance. Actually, now that I think of it, the composite out stays on when in lv mode (very handy for steadicam), so I could have used that for framing even if not so hot for focus pulling.
 
I asked this once before so sorry if someone deems it a crosspost.

Can the D90 record to the SD card while you are using an external monitor for framing?
 
nice setup! btw, is the "bridge" and all above the d90 - the accessories that came with steadicam, or is it smth assembled on your own?

Vitaminc : Yes

Alexandroff : Most are extras. The steadicam flyer comes ready to suit a big camera. The monitor, ability to take the AB batteries, arm and vest and stand are part of the normal setup.

The cage is from germany and allows me to both put the "antlers" on the top. This allows me to add the extra weight (cage and antlers) required to get such a light camera to both sit in the midrange of the arm, and not be so squirrly to handle. The cage also allows me to swap to "low-mode" which I did on a recent shoot, turning the whole rig upside down, and putting the camera on the top (now bottom) of the cage - allowing extra vertical down booming reach.

Using something like a pilot or merlin stradicam you would be able to use this camera without all the extra weight.

The vehicle mount is a tiffen product, and the bowl and mount to go with it is a standard bhphoto/adorama extra.

The matte box is a formatt 600, with ring adapters separate to suit the lenses. I had to get the 95mm one for the big old zoom prime direct from the UK.

The rest are standard bits of rigging and accessories like the other tripods, boom mic etc...

I actually just finished principal photography on a creative short shot (you know, script, actors etc) (trt between 15>20mins) entirely on the d90 with this setup. Eg, restricted myself to a 50mm and the 50-300mm. Got about 3 more scenes plus pickups in about 2 weeks when my co-filmmaker comes back from LA, and it's going to require heaps of time matching and grading in post. Might get a trailer out in less than a month though.
