Steadicam Merlin + 35L Video Stutter Issues

Hi guys, first post! I purchased a Steadicam Merlin, and I have had a lot of practice using it, however, I noticed that on fast moving shots I tend to get some video stutter. I've read up on it, and if your lens has Image Stabilization, the frames can fight against the movement of the Steadicam which actually makes the video look jittery. I'm using the Canon 35L f/1.4 and I have set the switch on the lense to manual focus. Are there any internal settings that enable IS that I should know about on the 5d Mkii camera body? Or is this a problem on all L-series lenses?

The 35 f1.4 doesn't have IS on it. Setting focus from Auto to Manual will simply turn off the Auto focus feature which is mostly irrelevant in Video mode. I've been using a 16-35 L on a Blackbird and haven't experienced any stuttering in video in fast gliding shots. Do you see this stuttering on the camera monitor when you're gliding or only after you review your footage on your computer?

Looks like there might be a web bot on the forum .

steadicams fly they don't glide ;)

Dmitry is correct. The 35 1.4 doesn't have IS. Whenever shooting in 24P you have the treat the camera like a motion picture film camera or you will get stuttering...you can't do quick whip pans and the like. Also make sure you are shooting at 1/50th shutter speed. If you are shooting at high shutter speeds you will loose motion blur in each frame and your frames won't blend together nicely.

Alos, make sure you have the lates firmware on the 5D and that you are shooting in manual mode.
