The rig I use is the STEADICAM FLYER LE. You can go to http://www.steadicam.com/video_flyerle.htm and check out more options. For focusing you need a 1st AC with a wireless FF unit. Thanks for the compliment.
Thanks for the compliments everyone. I have been operating for almost a year now. I started with a Homebuilt STEADICAM and then decided to take the plunge and get the real thing. Its a beautiful piece of gear but I already want a better one, sick I know, but that is what happens when you get into this particular biz. The more operating you do the better you get. I have yet to take a workshop but I will as soon as there is another here in Montreal.
I agree about the HVX, especially now that I have the new M2e from Redrock. I have a nice set of Nikon primes and the image was nice before now its just damn gorgeous. The edge to edge sharpness is fantastic and the light loss is almost like shooting with the HVX alone. I use the original HVX and I am still happy with it.
That 1st AC must have been twisting his a$$ off. that was spot and VERY smooth. I just had to let my HVX go a few weeks ago and I do miss it sometimes. Great work.
Thanks Richard. I did put my 1stAC through hell on that shot and the whole shoot actually. Don did a phenomenal job. He said he wished he had a picture of me and him running through the woods. In his words it was sick!
Just an up-date.
I know that some people have a problem getting dynamic balance on the FLYER. So I thought I would post a link to a clip that shows some mods that I have done to mine to make it easier to achieve. Check it out... http://www.douglasjohnkropla.com/STEADICAMDB.mov
