NEW UPDATE FOR THIS WEEK:
Behind The Scenes (Clip 1)

The Official Trailer (version 2)

Hi guys, we've just finished making our latest and biggest action film a few weeks ago and we're finally in the final stages of post-production!

Looking back at my first short film a few years ago, I must admit I've learn a whole lot from shooting other videos, watching lotsa films and reading up DVXuser.

The film specs

A 35mins short narrative feature, High concept action film, HD, 1080 25p.
Expected premiere in 6 July 2010, looking for more publicity distribution if possible.
2 special feature behind-the-scenes video included.

The film brief
Probably the most ambitious and biggest modern action film made in Singapore, the film features a cast of over 50 people, military and police gun-blazing sequences and a motorcade of BMWs.
Steadfast is a non-profit independent film made by two very ambitious young directors from Singapore. The film is supported by The Singapore Film Commission, Canon Singapore, Samsonite and other private sponsors.

The synopsis
The chairman of an international defense systems corporation attempts to reveal a major financial cover-up, but finds himself the target of an assassin. Only a lone government agent is sent to neutralize the killer, but soon discovers a larger, more sinister scheme at work than a simple hit.

The budget
I gathered a bunch of friends and intended to come up with about $1,000 USD.
With a bit of pitching and asking for help, we manage to get $2.5k USD from the Singapore Film Commission, and another 2.5k USD from a private sponsor. (Not too bad for us - indie boys who hasn't have anything major up our portfolio yet)
Altogether we manage to get about $6k USD and spent most of it paying of the essential cast and crew, transport and food for the volunteers and post-production crew.
55% of the budget was spent on production while the other 45% was spent on post.

The tech
As we were on a tight budget for a film our scale, we needed to shoot really fast as we are limited to hours - to shoot on location, to shoot with vehicles we borrowed, volunteers had tight schedules and we promised the cast just a few shooting days.
We ended up shooting multi cam on the Canon XH-A1, the style and approach of camera work was emulated off "24" (I LOVEEE 24)
We worked with very limited lights, trying to work within the natural lights available.
We decided to have professional sound people to do the location sound - no compromise on this area.
We also had a professional post-sound dudes to work on the music, sound design and the final mix.
Edited on FCP, special effects were done on AE.

STEADFAST OFFICIAL TRAILER ADDED
I think the teaser was so quick and fast that it's hard to catch anything off it.

Now that the trailer is out, please feel free to give your comments, critics, expectations and suggestions freely! (:

Its pretty amazing what you have done with the naked xha1! This film looks great and i definitely want to see it! Sound quality is good and the trailer is well cut!

One thing i dislike is the obvious use of VideoCopilot in the motion graphics. i felt it could have been done differently and maybe others don't notice but we VC heads can see all your grunge textures from riot gear. No huge deal here. Doesn't effect the film at all.

Keep up the great work you guys are going places if u did this stuff for 6k!!

Thanks for your kind words pksellers, yes we're really lacking in the of graphics effects department... (Anyone wanna help me out?)

I basically done everything within FCP.

I must say most of the cast and crew did this film as a voluntarily basis... More money definitely be great.
What do you suggest we do next? A feature?

Hey all, feel free to give your comments and ask about anything production related...
We hope to Premiere this in May.

At this stage, we're trying to focus on how to get the world to watch "STEADFAST"

But we're very certain that this won't be our last film... As usual, we will improve our craft in film-making and storytelling in every possible way for the next film...

Will it be an action/thriller? Most probably... We simply love making this genre (We love others too).
We'll challenge ourselves to.
1) Make a longer film (Prob 60min or 90min)
2) Shoot better (Prob DSLRs, more lighting equip)
3) Better story (We're looking for a good script)
4) Better actors (It's hard to judge who is better, but it all depends on the script)
5) Better action scenes (Hell yeah, let's have a civil war somewhere in the story)
6) Bigger cooler locations (Maybe have a river/sea ship scene going on, or the white house)

So yeah, basically our next film will consist of all of the above... That's my personal recipe for "success" - always improving and increasing in scale :P

Thanks fedetorres5!
Hopefully the actual film itself is good enough to hold up as a 'full' film - meaning a starting, body and ending.
I was wondering if I could give a DVXuser sneak preview of the film before I Premiere it locally (Singapore) to find out your responses and reviews.
Any idea how I should do it?
