State of RAW - 6D, 5D2, and 5D3

I'm seeing several really excellent RAW ML videos of the 6D popping up on Vimeo...much better stuff than I was seeing last year. Wondering if there have been major developments? I know there was always a choke-point around write speed on the 6D, but is the "state of RAW" nearer to the 5D3 now? Wondering as I'm considering picking up the 5D3 or 6D and while video isn't my major endeavor, I am very intrigued by RAW recording. Thanks!

I just recently toiled over the same decision and chose the 5d3. There were three things that tipped me in favor of the 5d3. First was the dual slots on the 5d3 and in particular that it still uses CF cards instead of SD. Although I have gear that uses SD, they have never inspired my confidence. The second is the 5d3 has clean hdmi output. The third reason, and this is more for stills work, the 5d3 has better autofocus.

I haven't worked up the courage to install ML RAW yet, but will do so as I approach the end of warranty.

Prices on both cams are falling right now and I suppose that new models are coming soon if that matters to you. The 5d3 can be had for around $2500 and the 6d for $1300 from authorized dealers if you look around.

Thanks, very helpful...Tempted by Sony and tried out the A7, but felt pretty "consumer electronics" to me..Don't think it would survive a 6" fall

I can't comment on the 6D, but the 5DIII is really stable at this point. The workflow has been simplified a lot. The only thing that drives me crazy is the absence of a flippable LCD, but I try to think of it in terms of a cinema camera and most of those require an additional monitor as well.

Thanks a lot...I'm basically interested in RAW video to extract stills. Does anyone know what the equivalent pic I could pull size-wise would be?

I'm wondering if the 5D2 would be better option since I don't need video for long shoots (just 10-15 second clips). I understood that to be a constraint of the 5D2 (outside moire) originally. Of course, money is an issue or I'd just opt for the pricier of the two.

1920x1080 px........

In 300 dpi that would be 16x9cm. What a coincidence :)

But why not just do a proper still of the same action after you shot the video part?
