Starting timecode later in a timeline - possible?

I'm curious, using Final Cut Pro 5.1.4, is there a way to start the timecode for a sequence a little LATER in a timeline, like say, a minute into it? I have some bars/tone and black that take up the first minute of my sequence, and I would like to start the actual timecode for my film at 01:00:00;00 instead of 01:01:00;00. I tried putting in
-00:01:00;00 into User Preferences > Timeline Options > Starting Timecode, but it doesn't seem to like a negative entry. Any ideas?

Because there's no such thing as negative time code. Industry standard (broadcast) blacks master tapes starting at 00:58:00:00. B&T runs 00:58:30:00 - 00:59:30:00. Slate from 00:59:30:00 - 00:59:50:00, and then black or black and countdown from 00:59:50:00 - 00:59:59:29. First frame of program is, where you want yours to be, at 01:00:00:00.

So start your time line at 00:58:30:00. Please also note that, when you make that change in your User Prefences, it won't take to any sequence you've already started. You'll have to create a new sequence. But no worries, just select all in your old sequence, copy, and paste to the new.

You can also go into your Seq settings and adjust the starting TC of the Seq you are working in.
