Starter rig for FS100

Looks kind of good, I had never heard of 'shape' before, but I saw some impressive looking rigs in the window of Adorama, today, and was wondering about the prices. Not sure about FS100 specific, but the in-person build quality looks high, better than my Gini Rig.

That Shape support looks pretty damn cool and gets good reviews. If you buy one, let us know how it worked!

I'm using a combination of Genus and Shape parts - Genus support plate and rods, with the Shape handles and shoulder pad - I modified the shoulder pad with a QR plate so the FS100 sits on top of my shoulder, and with a DP4 EVF, it makes a much shorter rig. The Shape gear is very well made, and solid in everyday use.

Can anyone recommend a budget-friendly shoulder rig for the FS100? I really like the design of that Shape unit but $700 is too rich for my blood. I've been doing a lot of run & gun interview-style shooting lately and want to steady out my shots, maybe bolt on an EVF or monitor.

Even if it's a cheapie eBay knockoff item, I'd be curious to hear some feedback on lower-priced rigs. I understand you get what you pay for but right now I have to be realistic about budget.

thanks,
Scott

Westside AV's rig is around $300, made in USA, built like a brick outhouse, and most importantly supports the very flimsy lens mount (the FS100's first fail point)

i've had mine for about a year now, it's been around the world several times, Bangladesh to Paris to Dakar to Sigishowra to Toyko, on and on... a total rock that i can trust... and no more lens mount flanges going out of kilter;

Looks cool. I guess putting the fs100 on this shoulder rig would force the use of an evf or monitor due to the wack center placement of the camera's own monitor.

Any other options? Anyone have a shoulder rig they want to sell? I guess I will post in market place.

Get a good monitor like a Marshall V-LCD56MD 5.6" with wave form and false color
and if you don't want to spend $799 then get the one below. If you want to shine with the FS100 you really need a good monitor. It's capable of really great
images but it's also very touchy and to skimp on a monitor is a grave mistake with this camera.
