Start Stop marker

I'm not sure what you would call this feature but here's what I'm trying to do.

I'm using Avid Xpress Pro HD to capture footage shot on a DVX100A. In Avid, I've set capture to add locators whenever the camera start/stop. (Sorry, I'm assuming you know Avid.) So I'm capturing through my Sony deck and all seems to go in ok, BUT no locators are marked on the captured clip.

I happen to have another DVX100A, and so I attempt the above again with footage shot with this camera and this time everything works, there are locators in the captured clip.

So hopefully you follow so far. Obviously, the 1st DVX100A is doing something different when you start/stop. I believe I've narrowed it down to the camera and not software or tape stock.

Have you had this experience with your camera? Am I missing some setting as I have compared setting from both camera & they are identical. Or is it safe to say, the camera is malfunction in that area. Otherwise it shoots just fine.

Sorry for the long post. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
