STARS-An Epic Saga

[El Director]

Well, here we go. With things on track for my producer and I having our own studio by summer (mix room, sound booth, office, soundstage and living area), we started talking about what our first projects will be with our new resources. We have a "Heroes meets Sin City" type miniseries, and we talked about doing a film that I've wanted to do since I was 12. That would be STARS, or Special Team Alpha: Resistance Squad. I guess you could call it GI Joe meets Star Wars, except that I've literally had this in my head since I was a kid. I still need to finish "Leap", and possibly "Leap 2", but I've started pre-pro on "STARS". And yes, that is where STARS Pictures came from. I've spent all day going through twelve years of notes and drawings, figuring out what I'll want to include in the film. This will truly be a work of art as it will encompass CGI, miniatures and pepakura. Rather than jumping head first into an epic such as this, we'll be shooting a short as a proof of concept when we move in to our Drift Studio.

I also partioned off part of my computer today with Ubuntu 9.04, as I much rather use Linux for pre-pro than Windows. It feels great to be using Ubuntu again!

should you ever decide to shoot 35mm let me know; I sell short ends at an average price of 15 cents per foot. ... this is all tested and color matched film fresh from Hollywood productions.

Sounds interesting, but im wondering if you might consider a name chance due to

just a suggestion, either way cant wait to see it

filmman, thanks! We'll definitely let you know if we go that route.
jonE5, yes, I am aware that Resident Evil had a team called S.T.A.R.S., but as of right now, I'm sticking with STARS. My idea is nothing like what RE has done, so I'm not worried. That, and our acronyms are different =)
I hope you guys continue to follow the flick.

It's been fun going through all my notes and treatments that I wrote for this thing over the years. Being that I was a kid when I wrote the stuff though, I need to rework a lot of it. Help it "grow up" so to speak.
