A hearty Welcome to our new Moderator!

You are no doubt familiar with the Stargate movie and series. I would like to explore ways to mimic the stargate portal effect. That shimmering pool of liquid that people walk into is a very cool effect.

I'm looking for a workflow that can be achieved in Studio HD complete.

I also have BCC AVX but you mentioned other products, so how would you achieve this effect using Studio and any other add-ons?

Do it like they did it. Shoot the rippling surface of water and the whirpool effect. Greenscreen it for transparency.
