star wars trailer

Daniel, I thought all of those "spoilers" you mentioned were well known facts to those who follow the SW saga. I know your average moviegoer may not know all of those things, but those who have been fans for years should. I mean we all know the Jedi are purged and Kenobi and Yoda flee to go into hiding. We know Anakin is seduced by the darkside and eventually becomes Lord Vader. The only issue I have as of now is the fact that General Grevious is another throw away character which will probably have the same amount of screen time as Darth Maul :/ I guess GL thought his appearance in the Clone Wars cartoon was enough. BTW, if you haven't watched those yet, do so. Grevious is such a bad ass. Anyway, I already got the 18th and 19th off and am going to be camping out at 7am for the midnite showing.

Well, sure we knew those things, but did we have to see so much of exactly how it goes down before the movie comes out? Again, it's not that the bulk information, its the details that I wish I hadnt been shown.

I will be seeing it with my Dad, we've seen all of em together from Empire onward. Saw A New Hope with my mother when I was 4 years old, and man did it make an impression! I can still clearly recall the opening scene from that first viewing!

Have any of you nerds ever even seen a Vagina? Could you pick a Vagina out of a police lineup? If I showed you pictures of a Mop, a bowling ball, and a Vagina, could you spot the Vagina? ~reservoir~

Only if it looked like it had a honey bun attached to each side of its head and was chained to a big slug looking, frog eating creature.

Not sure if you guys caught 60 minutes last eve, but there was an interview with GL that showed some new clips. He also stated that he won't back away from a PG-13 rating if the film is given one. As for Reservoir, sure I've seen a vagina, but I'll be damned if i can find the clitoris :/

This trailer looks cool; but not in a "OMG" way. It will be good to close this series up as GL ruined it long ago.

I liked the spot that 60 minutes showed that had animated Jedis, no human in that part of the fight at all. It was also amazing how nitpicky GL is, I wonder if he could actually direct a non-CG movie anymore where he does not have that level of control over every little detail. Maybe we will find out, since he is threatening to do some movies that no one will want to see.

Part of what has ruined it for me is GL's extensive use of CGI. I feel like I'm watching a high-gloss cartoon at times.

The ONLY fantastic SW film is empire. New Hope was good but straight forward adventure. Return of the Jedi was like New Hope with little furry retards.

Empire is my favourite. Its the only one where the characters truly grow. The story became interesting, which is what I was hoping for Attack of the Clones, but was dissapointed.

I can only hope that this is half as good as Empire. And as good as New Hope.

I'm OK with the level of CGI. That seems very much up George Lucas's alley. I mean A New Hope ushered in a whole new level of effects in film that was never seen before. It only seems fitting that The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith would do the same thing with the digital revolution. Though I will agree that at times he seems to use it wastefully, and in ways that do not, in my opinion, serve the story.

What I won't do is bash GL on a storytelling level. I do believe that they are his films and that he has a right to make them (or change them) however he wants, and he doesn't have to consult with me first, but what really bothers me about him is his level of inconsistancy. I mean after Phantom Menace came out how many times did we hear George Lucas talk about how these were "kid films" and that fans wanting more adult movies should look elsewhere because Star Wars is about serials and films for children. Now with Revenge he's like "Yeah, it's a dark film and I could back it off, but I don't want to." What? Where did that come from?

He's also inconsistent with his vision. He's said how the Special Editions are his true vision of how he always wanted the film. So you're telling me that in 1983 he thought "Man, I can't wait until Haden Christiansen is old enough so I can digitally put him in Return of the Jedi and have it meet my true vision for this film." Argh. That kills me. If you're going to change something be honest about it. "I woke up this morning and thought, hey, let's put Hayden in ROTJ. Why not?" Because you know that's what happened. And if he's now making films that are 100% the way George Lucas wants them, then how come the DVD of Phantom Menace already has footage not in the theatrical release?

Sorry. That was almost nine years worth of a rant that's been building up inside me. It just came out. Forgive me.

The trailer for Sith was breathtaking, but I'm controlling my level of excitement because the trailers to Phantom and Clones were also amazing. Maybe the guy who cuts the trailers should be given complete creative control.

I think episode 3 will only stir long-awaited excitement that 1 and 2 couldn't deliver in dedicated fans. But I hope that's not the case. I hope the movie is just as enjoyable to watch and behold as well.

If you really wanted to believe that GL could have made episode 1-2-3 just as good as 4-5-6, then what would you say you would have done?

Well, people talked about how these characters were not memorable, they dont hold the same values that Han solo or Chewbacca had. well, how do you suppose GL could have done it- if the story he had to tell was of Anakin and how he turns to the darkside?

I think the first three episodes only pave the way for Luke Skywalker's legacy. Mainly it's about how the 'the good son turns evil dad back to good' and GL had to tell that in an almost quick and dry chronology, yet focusing on Luke by way of Anakin.

It's fascinating to see how GL also tells of how the Jedi's were better during their prime and shows the lackthereof in ep 456's.

That's a good way to look at the saga, dvpixl. I hope you're right. I think Episode III will make or break the films as a continual story. It could go a long way to connect the two trilogies, and GL could have the last laugh. Or it could not, and then we'd have a trilogy of technological wonder, but not much else. I try not to critisize GL too much. I certainly think he's taken more than his fair share of a beating from critics and fans. The inconsistancy thing really gets on my nerves, and I was on a tangent in my earlier post.

I'll try to hold further comment and judgement until after I see Episode III. :)

In the meantime, don't forget: The Clone Wars Cartoon DVD's come out tomorrow! For skeptics:don't the let the "cartoon network"-like art turn you off; it's actually pretty good seeing all the things happening to Anakin before the events of Episode III(not gonna spoil it-go see it!).

As for Resevoir's name calling antics: Let me guess, when not posting on the DVX board, he's off playing offensive line for a pro-football team, being in the running for baseball mvp, shooting juice like Canseco, hazing rookie players, trashing this board on sports-related websites, and is living his life based on what other people think?

Newsflash: If you are on this board for any reason at all(24p, filmaking, editing, lighting, writing, etc.), then I hate to break the news to ya: You're a card carrying GEEK!! And in serious denial, no doubt. Luckily you posted this on a Star Wars thread; if you posted this on any of the Napolean Dynamite threads, the guys in the black trench coats playing D+D would've killed every member of your family ritualistic style, and then crucify you for being ashamed of what you are!! You SOOOOOO worship Bill Gates as your GOD!!! Classic in-the closet story, like those guys who dump on Vanilla Ice(for example), and yet, knows ALL the words to "Ice, Ice Baby" verbatim, bought his CD when it first came out, and blasted it as they were drivin past the highschools, when everybody and their mom thought that Vanilla was the ****.

As for the vagina remark: the majority of dudes here are MARRIED(so I think they actually get to see something. . . when they're whipped enough. j/k, guys)!!! My last girlfriend wasn't even really a girlfriend: after the sex, we really didn't have anything in common. A tip from your Uncle Sean: Dating strippers and having realistic, long term expectations DO NOT go together period. Damn, I got more in debt with her than with buying filmaking equipment.

Settle down BEAVIS!! That remark was a joke. It's a very famous skit by Bobcat Goldthwait that airs on the *Bob and Tom* show all the time. Settle down now... oK? Don't you think it's ironic I would post something like that in a DVXuser forum? That almost reeks of nerd-like behavior. I've already admitted I have no life but films and I'm a big geek. So what else is there to say? And on top of all that, I've already taken further initiative to *tone down* my posts on the sex and swears. So thank you for bringing it to everyone's attention!! I hope you feel better. And by the way, I worship Steve Jobs, not Gates. I try to steer clear from Gates, you might get spammed or catch a virus or something. That's a joke too alright!?! Thanx for your concerns about my previous post!! Next time try to read between the lines a little more. Why would I come here and make fun of everybody else and attack people? To boost my self-esteem and make myself feel better? No, of course not. I think some got the joke, and others didn't. Next time I won't post anything to avoid being accused of verbally attacking anyone. Thanx!! ~reservoir~

Dude, my post was totally sarcastic! (You're a Mac-user so it's all good-sorry about the Gates comment--that was low, even for me). At least they kept your post up. I've had a few post that have "magically" disappeared now and then.

I honestly cannot even see how anyone likes the new films; some of the worst films I have seen and definately uninspiring.

Yeah...that happens to me all the time (posts *magically disappearing*). Or at least it used to. I'm trying this new proactive posting approach by censoring my own stuff so the mods don't have to. So far it's working well. Just hope it lasts!! No hard feelings about the Vagina posts!! ~reservoir~
