Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Full trailer is out. Looks great, except for maybe the CGI penguin thing. Mark Hamill seems to be acting his ass off.

Holy crap that was intense... I dont mind the Porgi so much, its not enough to take me out of the universe.

But yeah that Hamill acting was perfect. And ofc its too obvious that they are trying to make it look like Kylo kills Leia as well, but the way they cut that brought tears to my eye. Poor kid.. so much conflict inside...

My wife asked me if this was the Last Jedi Film. I said "God I hope so." But given Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm, I highly doubt it. Will it be a good movie? Well, I still don't understand where the villains in these new films come from. Wasn't the Empire defeated? Anyway, it's all poorly written gobbledy gook to sell tickets and toys. Make an entire, planet sized weapon, Hah, like that would actually work.

No but maybe it came out subliminally! I saw a television commercial for this movie and that edit let me flat as well. As stated, seems like there no connection with the characters.

From the opening crawl--

Luke Skywalker has vanished. In his absence, the sinister FIRST ORDER has risen from the ashes of the Empire and will not rest until Skywalker, the last Jedi, has been destroyed.

Just last year, I stated on these boards (to ridicule) that Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm (and, specifically, the Star Wars franchise) was very ill-advised. And then to build an entire Star Wars Land at the theme park?! Someone is going to get fired for this. We are in the final days of Star Wars.

Why do you think a Star Wars land is ill-advised I might ask?

They got $3billion back in two movies from their investment of $4b with 3 more in the schedule. Their theme parks made a profit (not revenue) of $10 billion last year. I'd say they know more than most about entertainment investment strategies. Even Jar Jar Binks brought in a billion. I don't think you can screw up this franchise.

Strictly anecdotal (thank you for your polite question as opposed to, "You're an idiot!!! You don't know what you're talking about!!"): My kids (in the target group) and their friends (both male and female) have no interest at all. Now the DC franchises...VERY interested. No doubt Star Wars continues to be very hot. The fun is in guessing what the future holds. Regarding investment strategies, Disney has conceded that California Adventure was a terrible idea and plans are already underway to "re-theme" it.

I forgot about the California Adventure... what were they thinking? You're either living in California or on vacation in California and instead of going the real thing, you go to an amusement park that simulates the experience. It made no sense. It was better as a parking lot.
