Star Wars III

I can't really dislike any Star Wars deep down, because like many of us, I grew up worshipping it--however, we all know Lucas sux. I hate what he has done to the Star Wars storyline, but I'm not going to go on a huge rant about ROTS. I just wanted to emphasize how much I *despise* all of Sam Jackson's acting. Name one movie where he hasn't come across as an angry black man--even in frickin' Red Violin!! Arg! "Does Yoda look like a b**ch to you?" Anyways, the only other smaller point that I think a lot of people overlooked interms of Padme's continuity is that, hmm . . . she has an accent in Episode I, and then loses it in II and III. Hmmm. . . Arg. The whole thing just makes me made. III was the best of the prequels at least. But he Still managed to get Jar Jar in a shot!

he didn't play an "angry black man" in "The Caveman's Valentine" and quite a few other movies i've seen. i'm sure you haven't seen enough of his work to be able to say that about him the man has been in like 90 movies. it's fine if you don't like him as an actor or his acting style whatever but that doesn't mean you gotta pin it on some "i'm black look at me, i'm black" persona that just sounds rude. what you think of him as an actor shouldn't have anythign to do with race.

Jackson has charisma and screen presence, but not a lot of "range." Compare him to Denzel Washington, who can play a wide variety of different roles, and Jackson is left wanting. But I still find him very entertaining to watch. He tends to bleed "cool" over every role he takes.

I never bought him as a Jedi, however. Too much of a stretch for me.

i thought it was a pretty nice ending to the series. script had some horrible lines though and as a stand alone movie it's just not that good

It's not as bad as people say it is and it's not as good as the loyalists claim either. I enjoyed it.

This sums it up best I think.

For me; the new films suck completely; filmed against bluescreens; forgettable characters; CG overload....

Are they the worst cinema has to offer? Of course not. They are solid films and people love them. The Jedi Geeks that proclaim them to be the best films ever need to get a grip on reality however. I'm an original Star Wars baby and am mesmerized at the fan cult following for Star Wars. This is weird to me.

Did I enjoy these new ones? Unfortunately not. These new films really have ruined the SW Mojo for me (that and George's constant screwing with the print's). Anyone recall the first time you saw that horrible CG Jabba? Or how about the Jawa's and Robot's acting like idiot's as they come into Mos Eisley? What about those ridiculous looking CG X Wings as they go into formation on the attack of the Death Star?

Something happened with Star Wars right at the time JEDI was made. Suddenly Star Wars got 'cute'. And one thing I don't like is CUTE MOVIES. "Aaawwww, isn't that cute?" Save it for the toddler's. And this is a general sentiment. JEDI is too cute and this is the point whereas most original SW fans got off the boat.

These new one's are simply re-hashes of a story I already know. Yes, I know Vader is Lukes father; do I need to see 3 films about that one element? Can I get at least one cool sub-plot?

SW 1 and EMPIRE are adult films. Now imagine being a child and seeing these for the first time. It was real. It was plausible. It was a world that could exist. These two films were not made for children but for cinema. JEDI and beyond caters towards children and that's where I think it loses the race. (Think RAIDERS to LAST CRUSADE)

I doubt the new SW films will be held in high as regard as the orginals going forward when most people consider them sub-standard. Check places like imdb.com and the list of 250 best/popular/highest rated films and the new ones aren't even on there. But films as recent as The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Carribean are there.

Lucas won gold with THX, American Grafitti, SW and Empire but after that he just went south (North to Marin County actually). His constant tinkering and rumoured 3D Versions have become too Disneylike in obsession. Let it go George; move onto something else brother.

Are they cool films? Sure. I'll give it that. But there are alot of cool films out there. It seems these days we are on a constant look out for the next film that is going to blow us away; a film that will be considered a classic for years to come and one that we'll remember as we grow old. Do these films have that mojo? No ****ing way.
