I had an awful lot of fun with Episode 3 - I found it really held the "magic" that so many people feel was lost. I do agree, that the original trilogy has a much more human element to it - it's a lot more easily relatable, and it had a much higher sense of swashbuckling fun. Episode 3 is definitely in this tone.
What I also found interesting was how it changed my opinion of Episodes 1 and 2. While on thier own, I agree they have less dramatic thrust, have a slower pace, and seem far too "sugar coated" for the more traditional Star Wars universe, in contrast with the downfall we see in Episode 3, they feel much more justified. We see this world turn from a boring, pastel atmosphere to a dark and much more classically "Star Wars" universe. I didn't find any moments of cheese or any bad dialogue any worse than in the original Star Wars movies - and I loved it all for that same reason. I felt attached to all of the characters, and cared about their relationships with each other. Some of the best "Star Wars" performances are in this movie.
All in all, a fantastic picture - it makes Star Wars human again.
