Star Wars Holiday Special - All the horror, in only 5 minutes

Someone has taken the time to boil down two of the LONGEST hours that ever aired on national television, and reedit the whole thing down to 5 minutes.

What's funny is... I still think it moves way too slow.

Check it out

If you've never seen the Star Wars Holiday Special..you're in for a real treat.

Yeah, I had to fast forward thru the 5 minute version. Harrison Ford looks like he's in pain delivering those lines. I think a producer had him at gunpoint off camera.

The Boba Fett cartoon was pretty cool in the original version.

That was the first appearance of Boba Fett, ever.
Yeah - what a great way to debut that character (sarcasm)

If some of you have never seen the full 2 hour version - you really should.
You'll be shocked that this thing ever hit the air.

Wow... 2 hours of that crap? I watched 20 seconds and then started dragging through the rest of the clip. I must have missed the debut of whatever cartoon. God knows I'm not going to watch it again to see what I may have missed. What were they thinking?

Yeah the most worthless piece of film ever made. I didnt know it existed till last year. And saw a bit of it. Had to turn it off!! The Problem is, I was 10 when starwars came out, so I might have watched this whole thing at that age and enjoyed it. (thank God for star trek in the same time slot)

This guy should have included a bit of Carrie Fisher where she appeared drunk. Her first part in this thing, she was tipsy.

Oh, she was more than drunk... :Drogar-KnockedOut(D

I have a strange love/hate thing with the SWHS--on the one hand, it's so obviously an attempt (by Lucas's ex-wife, or at least soon-to-be-at-the-time, IIRC) to cash in, so it's awful in that way; but then, it's awful in a so-bad-it's-almost-good sort of late 70's way that I can actually almost like. Those of you seeing the five minute version are missing out (at least I'm guessing, not being able to watch it at work) on some of the classic late-70's-ness, like the miniaturized holographic performace by Jefferson Starship... :cheesy:

Poll: who saw this when it was on originally?

I did.

David, you have just been....

with that statement.

The fact that they didn't include the full clip of Bea Arthur singing in the cantina is blasphemy.

I only got to watch the first half when I was like 9. My bedtime prohibited me from from watching the full episode. I was pissed at my mom for like a week because she wouldn't make an exception. It wasn't until years later that I realized what a favor she did for me.

I think it was the Holiday Special that had Harrison Ford wanting out of the Star Wars series. As it turned out, freezing Han at the end was probably the best thing they could have done for the series.

Cheers
