Star wars episode 7: Coming soon?

"I have story treatments for 7,8 and 9..."....and my heart sinks...
I'm fine with him having story treatments as long as he is not writing nor directing. I think George is a good 'big picture' guy but he shouldn't write and direct. It gives him too much control and there's no one around to say, "No, that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard and we are not doing that."

So is this yet another example of the recent Hollywood trend of recycling IP?

He didn't write or direct Crystal Skull either...He just wrote the treatment.

It didn't occur to me, Disney also owns Indiana Jones now too!?

Am I nuts in thinking we'll see a massive STAR WARS theme park add-on built in the near future?

So not only more Star Wars movies, but merchandise and a LucasLand theme park that is primarily Star Wars focused, with some Indiana Jones attractions, and maybe if we're lucky a Willow ride and perhaps even a Howard The Duck roller coaster?

Star Wars Kingdom or LucasLand makes sense. Just looking at Star Wars, they could have different areas of the park based around the various Star Wars time periods (The Old Republic, The Prequel era, OT rebellion era, and the period of time this episode 7 and beyond would take place in). Mos Eisely Cantina restaurant with animatronic aliens spread throughout? A "shoot Greedo first" interactive game off to one corner?

I hereby declare for all time that the Star Wars saga began in 1977 with episode IV, and ended with in 1983 with episode VI. The rest is like bad coffee after you ran out of cream; sure you can drink it, but you only had enough cream for one pot and should have stopped there.

This is only good news for me. With the prequels Star Wars has somewhat died a bit inside of me. If they come out with new movies that live up to the Star Wars name, then it might bring me back.

Hmm, Joss Whedon perhaps? Or is he locked into Marvel too much?

I'm already contemplating the costume for my visit.

I'm REALLY excited about this.

Reboot all the original Star Wars films as well, starting from Episode I. People crap on Hollywood for not being original / running out of ideas, which might be true, but I honestly feel that the majority of reboots are head and shoulders above the originals, and paced perfectly for the present-day audience. It's like they took a scalpel and trimmed all the unnecessary fats out of the originals and came out with a leaner, meaner version.

Somebody on here said it and I agree with completely - Lucas is a great big picture guy, but he can't write for sh*t.

If they put the right director and more importantly, WRITER to helm the new films, this could be a huge new cash cow that I would be happy to feed.

I'm thrilled that somebody got this out of Lucas' hands... I think we're in for some great movies vs. what we were getting. It was time to put new blood into those ideas... hopefully it works out.

No more crystal skulls and jar-jars? I can live with that.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think it might be a hot potato in Disney's hands. The expectations are going to be massive.

Having worked for Disney in the past, I can say that they have made some pretty poor choices as of late concerning the movies which they have produced.

I'm not seeing Joss Whedon being the right guy.

I do. I think the wit and sharp characterization he displays in his writing is a quality that the prequels sorely lacked, along with everything else. His sensibility in Avengers most reminds me of classic Star Wars. Of the plausible candidates he seems the best fit to me. Some have mentioned Gore Verbinski but I'm not the biggest fan of his.
