Star wars box set

Re: Star wars box set

You know what's weird? I work at a blockbuster and we only got it for XBOX... that's why I thought that...

Re: Star wars box set

Leaving to get my copy of Star Wars now...plus I'm putting my name on the giant Vader statue standee thingy...so when they stop selling the DVD's I can have the sign...I have a ton of those now...

See you guys in (6 hours of movies, plus 6 hours of extra's right?) 12 hours...perhaps sooner, just to tell you guys how cool it is...

P.S. I've read Jar Jar has been put into the Naboo celebration. >:(

Re: Star wars box set

ok, my friend works at Hollywood video and snatch up a copy of battlefront MONDAY NIGHT! We played it for hours!

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: We played it on xbox and overall i thought it was pretty damn fun, but Xbox has a player limit of 16 where PS2 has a player limit oh 8. ewwwww

Also, seriously this feels like a game made for consoles, not PCs. Thats not a bad thing, but it really feels like they tried to compensate for a controller and I cant imaging it feeling as right with a mouse (I always think FPS games should be played with mouse and keyboard, but like Halo, this you can tell this was made for a controller). If your die hard and dont have an Xbox, then sure i guess, but there are so many better games for PC.

Re: Star wars box set

The PC versions of games are usually controlled quite differently -- and in much more detail -- than the game box versions. And graphics are typically much, much better.

Re: Star wars box set

I'm watching the documentary right now...god its so long I don't know if I can watch anymore I need some sun.

Re: Star wars box set

I have played it this morning and it works great on the PC (Its very muck like Battlefield in SW Land). I assure you, it's much better on a PC than the other PF. ALso, there are rooms to play in with 64 people (Well, people and bots)

Re: Star wars box set

Is it just me or did they change Jabba, he's darker and more detailed, and smaller eyes...in the Jabba and Han scene.

Leia is so hot...

Re: Star wars box set

The Jabba and Han scene in Episode IV? That scene wasn't in the original release, and WOW, I hope they improved it from the 1997 version.

The original scene was shot with a big hairy human.

Carrie Fisher was 19 when she filmed Ep IV.

Re: Star wars box set

yes, they filmed it with a big hair human, but it never made the cut.

WHY can't I see the original film... just once more???

Re: Star wars box set

Yea, they fixed up Jaba in that scene. They also took off Vader's eyebrows to match the ending of Episode III.

Couple of fun mistakes they didn't fix: In episode IV a storm tropper hits his head against a door frame. And the number of windows from inside the Millenium Falcon doesn't match the outside number.

I'm still reserved about the changes though.

I'm at work still, my buddy picked up my set today for $30 from Frye's... hmm, should I stay up all night watching Star Wars and skip class tomorrow? We shall see... ;)

Re: Star wars box set

I watched this with my familia tonight. Even my wife was into it (She was born in 75 so was a little to young for STAR WARS). My son was trippin out. The Jawas, the opening sequence, the cantina, all of it. He was glued.

The JABBA scene (which I still hate) has definately been FIXED up from the previous Special Edition. Looks better, but the scene in context still is lame. Also, the whole GREEDO shooting first thing was wrong wrong wrong. Just doesnt have the same feel as it used to. Sigh.....

Other than that, the print is amazing. Looks like it was shot recently and not in 1975. Im impressed. The sorround sound just worked it too!

Re: Star wars box set

Wait, I thought that in the new release, they shoot at the same time. (completely negating the argument that Lucas wanted Greedo to shoot first, because he changed it for a second time. (and what stopped him from doing that originally while we're at it? (NOTHING!)))

(That was a lot of parenthesis.)

Re: Star wars box set

So I was just watching Episode IV, and I've got a scientific question. When the ships are blowing up in space, would they really go out in a huge firey explosion? I mean, there's no air in space, therefore, nothing for the fire to feed off.

This is why I bought the 1996 widescreen VHS set from eBay.

Re: Star wars box set

no there wouldn't be any explosion. but explosions make it look better I guess.

Re: Star wars box set

A rocket would explode in space because its fuel would mix with its oxidant.

Of course, we don’t have the slightest idea what powers the ships in SW except for vague notions about “ion engines” and so forth.  Could be small nuclear reactions, a la stars, which most emphatically do burn in space.

In any case, whatever engines those things have, they either have to carry their reactant with them, or they have to get it from the environment. Either way, there could be explosions.

But yes, they’re in there to look cool.

I will now slip back into anonymous geekery.

Re: Star wars box set

wow, i just got them last night....so ****ing awesome to have them on dvd now! would it be cool to have the originals on disk too? **** yeah, but it obviously aint going to happin. man, when i was in junior high/ high school, on weekends or during the summer i would stay up untel 3-4 in the morning drawing still lifes or comic book characters. with the star wars movies looping in the background. awesome. cant wait to watch them all again!

The shame!!! :o

Come on, how can you not like lines like (if memory serves me):

You haven't even touched your food.

Friedrich explodes and slaps on his food.

Dr. Frankenstein
There! I've touched it!

Re: Star wars box set

Rumor has it that the music in the rear channels is reversed, causing some of the louder and more dramatic music to sound a little weird. Not sure if this is true.

Tomorrow I'm going to try and find myself a copy (I love these movies), but I still can't get over the new "Jedi Rocks" thing in Jedi. I guess that's the worst movie to start with, though...at least they didn't add that into Empire.
