Oh... I've absorbed nothing, my friend. Happily, this excess of nerdom seems to be plinking right off my skull.
I felt myself start to drift into a coma as I reached "NCC-1701-A".
Okay...
NCX-01 : The 'original' Enterprise, a la the Scott Bakula catastrophe of the same name.
NCC-1701 : The classic 1960s/70s Paramount/Desilu Enterprise.
NCC-1701 redux: The TV Enterprise, refitted into its first feature incarnation in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
NCC-1701-A : A 'brand new' refitted-Enterprise-grade ship, replacing the NCC-1701 which was purposely destroyed by its crew in Star Trek: III.
NCC-1701-B : Based upon the Excelsior prototype from Star Trek: III with the addition of some cool John Eaves upgrades. Seen in Star Trek: Generations.
NCC-1701-C : A portly, dumpy dish-and-engines affair whose main narrative purpose is to get the crap blown out of it in a parallel-universe-time-travel-hey-Denise-Crosby-is-back story.
NCC-1701-D : The Andy Probert redesign of the Enterprise layout, for the tv series Star Trek: The Next Generation and spinoff shows.
NCC-1701-E : The Enterprise layout revised with an angular, elongated 'stealth-fighter' sort of sensibility, for whatever they call the last chunk of uninspired cinematic sludge Paramount chose to release as their final Star Trek feature.*
...I wrote that off the top of my head, to see how much of this stuff I've retained.
Way too much, I think.
Well, at least I have an excuse.
Stick with being an extra, because you ain't making it in comedy...So, is the Enterprise that appears in the adults-only version of STAR TREK going to be referred to as the NC-17?

TOS= The Original Series?
TMP= The Motion Picture?
What are the others: B, C, D, E ?
The most important question here is "Where is Serenity on that chart?"
