standby and time code breaks...

if I have the camera set to standby for tape saver, it sometimes will go from the grey standby status to the green pause, and I can hear it repositioning the tape, and then it will go back to standby... it sometimes does this several times in a few minutes.... other times it will stay on standby for over an hour with no issues...??

I can almost always expect to later find a timecode break and some blue, or it will recue back a second or two into the previous shot if it does the thing where it goes from standby to pause on it's own...... any idea why it does this...?

Re: standby and time code breaks...

If you black (or stripe) your tape, you won't have any problems. You could also use the Rec. Search feature.

Re: standby and time code breaks...

does anyone bother blacking tapes anymore?  I hought that was old school...  I can't get into the time and effort to do that - not to mention the added head time on the camera.

anyway - the time code breaks I can live with - but the unexplained "pause/standby/pause/standby" thing the camera intermettently does, is anoying - what is that about...?
like I said - it doesn't do it all the time... anyone else notice this happening on thier camera?

Re: standby and time code breaks...

You can change your camera to go to standby instead of powering down. Go through your menus and change the setting.

Powerdown/standby is used to save batteries and heads.
Just use Rec Check button on top of camera after standy or powerdown to re-sync the timecode and you shouldn't have timecode breaks.
No need to blank an entire tape and add wear and tear to camera heads.

Re: standby and time code breaks...

I have it set to go to standby and not power down...

I guess I am the only one noticing that it cycles through standby and pause sometimes on it's own...
is no one else noticing this?
