Hey Gang,

Just wanted to get some feedback on my first short film. It's a dark comedy about a woman who buys a computer, finds that she has Cyber-Stalker and her life has taken a turn for the weird. It's a first effort and wanted others to rate it overall and tell me what works and what doesn't. Hope to hear from you. Thanks!

Good effort. I felt it was too long, maybe by 10-12 minutes too much. I suspect you needed a rewrite or two... You could probably edit it down though.

The cinematography is plain. Static shots of people sitting in chairs doesn't really draw an audience into your story. Lighting needs some work too.

The sound is acceptable, but not great.

For a first effort, it doesn't completely suck, (like mine did) so keep practicing. Read through the scriptfest winners (and losers too) to give you examples of a tight script that stays ahead of the audience and draws them in.

Cool company logo animation though!

Thanks Yee, I appreciate your honesty. Took a look at A Clumsy Girl and Once Upon a Ticket, very nice. I'd like to hear more from others since there's been close to 40 views but just one review. Please, take a few minutes, I spent months on this project and I REALLY need to know what people think. To have gone to the lengths that I did to make this short film, it would be a great help to have some feedback, good, bad or indifferent.

This dark comedy features Judy (Jenny Solfanelli) who decides to upgrade her life by buying a computer. Not knowing a thing about them, she purchases the biggest, most power system she can from a computer geek, named Chet (Liam Toner) who is of questionable nature and reputation. After a series of mishaps – a freak power surge and cross wiring it, something amazing happens - the computer gains self-awareness! Using its word processor, speakers and microphone, the computer begins to communicate with the world and Judy, thinking that she has some kind of Cyber-Stalker, goes on a wild goose chase trying to figure if she has gone completely mental.

“Stalking You” was both a labor of love and a challenge; there’s been other short videos and clips that I’ve done, but this was my first real film so the learning process was both demanding as well as gratifying. I am very grateful to my cast and crew for their hard work. It was both a pleasure and a privilege working with such an august group of individuals. The movie was shot over two weekends in January and March of 2008, with a relaxed scheduled that allowed us to enjoy the experience of working together for the first time. The crew remarked how laid back the atmosphere was and we all had fun. Derek, our DP, handily shot blocked the scenes which made it easier to edit the final cut. It’s a fun movie with some nice plot twists, I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we had making it.
