Stable patch for GH1 720 footage?

I'm a newbie, sorry if this has been asked elsewhere, couldn't find the answer in previous posts.

I just got a GH1 with the Blackout patch. Is there a patch available that is more stable for SH 720 footage? I keep getting error messages that my Sandisk extreme 30mb card can't keep up when recording 720 footage. No problems when shooting in FHD 1080.

And assuming there is a stable 720 patch available, do I need to reinstall the original firmware first, or can I just download the new patch?

I'm going to be shooting mostly weddings and because of the file size of the 1080 24p footage, would prefer to shoot in 720.

I use the Blackout/Powell patch but bring the bit rate down to stop the write errors

Thanks. So I just download the patch and use these settings, do I need to reinstall the original firmware first before downloading another version?
