Stabilizer use

Can you use a shotgun mic on the accessory shoe of a DVX 100B with the Merlin stabilizer?

Depending on the mic, yes. If it's a tall heavy mount with a big mic, you can go over the limit, but a low profile mount with a lighter mic shoudl work fine.

Or you could just use the DVX's own shotgun mic.
