Stabilization on Final Cut X not working

I'm using a Imac 2011 with Intel I5, 512 Radeon Graphics card, 1Tb hard drive, and 16gbs of ram.

I have my footage in three external drives two connected with USB 2.0 and one connected through FW800

Before it would allow me to stabilize my footage, but now that option doesn't pop up anymore. Was wondering if anybody on here have any suggestions or more experience with this problem. I did notice one thing though I have footage on the internal memory of this Logo I made and the stabilization appears again but only on that footage. Any feedback would be great hope to hear from you guys soon.

This happens in FCPX once in a while. Try to right click (I think) in event browser in the clip which you are trying to stabilize and select "analyze for stabilization" ( or something like that). When it's done, place the clip in the timeline, and the option to stabilize will appear (at least that always works for me).

Is it a a compound clip? If so, you have to open the compound clip in a timeline (right click on the compound click, and click open in timeline) and then stabilize the video clip in there. I can't remember, but this might pertain to synchronized clips too.

USB 2 is simply insufficient for video editing.

You haven't indicated what codec you are working with, but anything less than FW800 will likely cause issues.

This happens all the time for me too on several different systems. Seems like a bug.

Use Shift+F to find the clip in the event browser, then re-place the clip in the timeline. Stabilization should then appear in the clip info tab. Make sure to copy/paste any effects or filters you have on the original timeline clip before you replace it.
