SSE fix in post?

Couldn't the SSE issue of the JVC ProHD be fixed in post? Or is there anyone out there working on a plug-in that does this? This may seem like a dumb question (and may have already been addressed), but I just wanted to throw it out there.

With all the great stuff about this camera, there should be a way to work around the SSE somehow...

Well, the most important thing in my mind if SSE is a recurring problem with your camera, is that you should have a JVC rep re-calibrate the camera. Once properly calibrated, SSE should only show up in the rarest and most extenuating circumstances.

As for fixing SSE in post- it's possible that you could use a vertical mask in After Effects to split the screen and try to match one side to the other- but you'd have to eyeball it, and it might not work so well on a moving or panning shot where the nature and intensity of the SSE is in constant flux.

Even in static shots the value of the SSE changes (like random noise) so you'd have to do a lot of keyframing to keep in sync with it.

SSE should not be an issue for you - if it is, take filmguy's advice and have to camera recalibrated.

What I've heard about most SSE shots, when they do happen, is that they stay 'equal' in their miscolors, and are reletively easy to fix in post if you must keep the shot (this is particularly true for narrative work where there would be, presumably, multiple takes which would lessen the occurances for the SSE to happen - ie - there'd be takes w/o the SSE).
