SRW9000 and SRW1 same?

Just wondering if anyone know whether the innards of the SRW1 are the same as the tape deck on the SRW9000? Just wondering in case I needed new heads or other parts at some point - rather than paying for new parts thought might be able to use bits from the SRW1 as there are quite a few around - unlike SRW9000s which seem to be very rare.

Steve,

I would expect a number of parts are the same, but others probably are different due to the change in dimensions. I know the option cards for the SR-9000 are different than for the SRW-1, even though they fill the same function, they had to be shaped a different way.

If you can get the service manuals for both the SR-9000PL and the SRW1, you can cross reference. You also could review the catalog for sony parts and carefully review parts numbers.

I've always just used Sony's site and parts search to find what's what.

https://www.servicesplus.sel.sony.com/sony-parts.aspx

I did a quick search for SRW9000PL and it's in there. Under the Category drop down menu, choose "Exploded Views". Then in the Module drop down menu, choose whatever sub-system you're looking at. It will populate a list of parts and stuff for you. In that list you can see the parts prices, parts numbers and if you click on the last icon to the right under "Expl.View" you'll get a PDF that shows the parts diagram all labeled and everything.

Hope this helped.

Thanks guys. Didn't think a search on the Sony site would be that easy! Seems like the drum assembly part is identical - and $14,000! Hence my interest in maybe getting an SRW1 for $2,000 for parts!
