Squeezed 16:9 onto a big screen.

The answer to this is probably simple, but, my simple mind needs an answer. If I was to show a movie shot with the ana lens onto a theatre screen, digitally, how would I get it to be 16:9(unsqueezed) without having black bars on the top and the bottom? Do dv projectors read it and unsqueeze it themselves? Curious to know...

Re: Squeezed 16:9 onto a big screen.

Some projectors are 16:9-native, so you'd get the best display of your anamorphic footage. Examples would be the Sony VPL-VW12HT and Cineza HS2 (if memory serves).

If your projector is NOT 16:9 native, then there's a shot that it will do the unsqueezing for you in the projector. The Cineza HS1 does it that way. This will result in black bars, of course, but you can then zoom the projector in to fill the screen.
