squeeze mode question (anamorphic related)

Hey everyone, shot a test on squeeze mode. Here's my current problem, I have my timeline set to 23.98fps and "anamorphic 16x9" is selected. In Final Cut Pro it looks great. But when I export it the quicktime opens as a 4:3 image, and when uploaded to youtube it remains a 4:3 image. How do I fix this?

Also, I'm guessing iDVD doesn't have an anamorphic option because it also shows up 4:3 on my dvd player/blu ray player. Is there a way to get a anamorphic dvd off iDVD that isn't too confusing. If not, I think I have a copy of DVD Studio Pro 4 around here somewhere but I would have to teach myself to use it.

Okay, it actually turns out that it ISN'T squished on youtube. But is squished on everything else.

Ya iDVD doesn't have anamorphic. That is weird... when you export, it should remain 16:9...

The quicktime file comes up as a 4:3 so it looks squished, but the youtube file, the same one that opens up weird in quicktime, looks fine when uploaded on youtube.

I'll have to add DVD studio pro 4 for the dvd burning I guess. I just wish I could figure out the quicktime (still photos extracted from the sequence do it too).

what version final cut are you using? use compressor and you will have no problem

Final Cut 6.0.5. I recieved some advice on the FCP board I'm going to try out. Hopefully from both of these posts I'll be able to figure it out before my May 30th shoot.

740x480. Also, I got a little bit of a comb effect so I don't know where that is coming from.

Sounds like you're exporting as NTSC standard.

Best thing to do is export as 854x480 with 1.000 (square) pixels, and make sure the frame rate is 23.976 and that it's progressive.

You're right, I was exporting standard. I also played with the settings so much I couldn't change the framerate from 29.97 (which I have since fixed.) Let me try to export the way you wrote and I'll check back in tonight.

EDIT: The 854v480 worked! Now I need to find out how to make good anamorphic dvd's.
