I shot some footage on squeeze for the 1st time, did a quick edit and burned in onto DVD and viewed it a widescreen TV. didnt notice much difference, faces looked a bit stretched, didnt have any black bars at the top or bottom. just wondering what if any the advantages are of shooting in squeeze?? Cheers.

If everything was exported correctly, you shouldn't be seeing any stretching in the faces. The advantage of squeeze mode is that you can export a 16:9 picture without any hassles.

You can do a search on this topic. It has been battled and discussed more than any other issue that I can remember. To this day, I don't believe you can get a solid answer. People swear by each method and it doesn't affect the quality of their product.

Some are very passionate about Squeeze. Others insist on doing everything in 4:3. Letterbox is the only method for some. And these are all pros taking postions on the different ratios.

I suggest you just play with all three and see what works best for you.

Horse is right, in my opinion, about using squeeze for 16:9 to go to DVD. You shouldn't be seeing any distortion.
